Car-Free Tourism  is an initiative that aims to reduce the traffic associated with tourism. To help visitors make a choice a number of tourism business in the New Forest are now offering car-free discounts, incentives and car-free packages. In fact the New Forest was claimed to be the greenest car-free destination in the UK from the country’s leading assessor of sustainable tourism businesses, the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS):

Cycling, Walking  Horse riding and Sailing are all popular, healthy activities that take place in the New Forest and you can help encourage these in all marketing and communications.  Also, by offering car free discounts all year you are making a commitment to encouraging car-free tourism. However there are other ways to encourage car-free activities, for example, providing seasonal car-free price promotions, offering free transport to & from your property from local public transport networks.  Promotion & provision of activities that are not reliant on the private motor car, such as cycling and walking is very positive for a destination and vital for long-term sustainability
